Counterfeit Reporting Updates

Operations at the U.S. Secret Service’s Counterfeit Currency Processing Facility (CCPF) remain closed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the CCPF can now accept limited shipments of suspect counterfeit notes from businesses and financial institutions under the following conditions:

  1. Ship suspect counterfeit banknotes and accompanying paperwork in as few packages as possible, and do not individually wrap notes or batches of notes in envelopes. This will enable faster processing when the CCPF resumes operations.
  2. Ship suspect counterfeit notes only periodically (for example, once per month).

Please continue this practice until we advise you that CCPF operations have resumed.

If you are a business or financial institution that does not ship suspect counterfeit notes to the CCPF, please contact your local U.S. Secret Service field office for the most up-to-date information on what to do with suspect counterfeit notes.
